Laos

Visa Requirements for EU Citizens
As an EU citizen, you can obtain a visa on arrival in Laos for up to 30 days or apply for an eVisa online. Make sure your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your stay. It’s helpful to bring a passport-sized photo and USD cash for the visa fee.
Transport
Getting around Laos is straightforward with these main options:
- The most convenient ways to travel between cities in Laos are by buses and trains, both of which can be booked through platforms like 12GoAsia.
- Buses are popular for long journeys between places like Vientiane and Luang Prabang, and there are options ranging from VIP buses (comfortable, with AC) to standard services. The new China-Laos Railway offers an excellent train route connecting Vientiane to Luang Prabang and other cities.
- For short distances within cities, tuk-tuks, shared songthaews, and bicycles are common. You can also rent motorbikes for more freedom, especially in Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang.
